DIY SPRING STAMPING PROJECT

Did you know that you can create your own custom stamps for cards and mixed media art?
All it takes is an eraser or a carving block, and a craft  knife or some carving tools.
It's fun and easy!

Here is what you will need:
  • Speedball Speedy-Carve TM block or eraser
  • Exacto TM or other craft knife
  • Stamp pad, block printing inks, or acrylic paints for printing
  • Cardstock, canvas board, canvas, or other surface to stamp on
ALL OF THESE SUPPLIES AND MORE ARE AVAILABLE AT THE ARTIST ATTIC AT SCRAPPY CRAFT

1.  Draw or transfer your design onto the carving block.

2.  Optional: transferring an image-
     a.  For heat transfer - Copy your photo, copyright-free clip art, or text, with a
photocopier.  Transfer your photocopied image to the Speedy-Carve TM block as
follows:  Center your image face down on the carving block.  Apply heat
with a warm iron for a few seconds.
     b.  For non-heat transfer - Trace your image with tracing paper.  Place the tracing face
down on the carving block.  Rub the image with the back of your fingernail or the back
          of a spoon.
     c.  When you lift the paper, your image will be transferred from the paper to the block.

3.  Carve around the outline of your image to create a shallow trough.
Continue carving away the areas that you don't want to print.  Only
the raised areas of your image will print.

4.  Print your image using Speedball TM block printing inks, stamp
     pads, or acrylic paint.

5.  Repeat!
